OPC-UA

Secure, standardized machine-to-machine communication for modern industrial equipment. The backbone of Industry 4.0 interoperability.

How Flowstate Connects

OPC Unified Architecture provides a platform-independent, service-oriented architecture for industrial data exchange. Many modern machines and PLCs include built-in OPC-UA servers — machine controllers, injection molders, robots, and packaging lines. Flowstate's edge nodes run an OPC-UA client that browses the server's address space, subscribes to relevant nodes, and publishes changes as Sparkplug B messages to the Unified Namespace.

  1. 1Edge node discovers OPC-UA server on your machine's network
  2. 2Browse the address space to identify available data points
  3. 3Subscribe to nodes with configurable sampling intervals
  4. 4Encrypted connection (OPC-UA Security Mode: Sign & Encrypt)
